How Do I Get Weight Loss Medications at Raya?

2. After we receive your bloodwork, we will be able to determine if you are a candidate.

3. You will then see us every four weeks for your 4-week supply of injections. At home self-administration will be discussed.

4. At your monthly evaluation, we will perform a check-in on your progress.

What Is It?

Compounded tirzepatide is a medication created by compounding pharmacies that contains the active ingredient tirzepatide, which is also found in the FDA-approved medications Mounjaro and Zepbound.

How It Works

-GLP-1s are clinically proven to reduce inflammation markers; leading to decreased inflammatory response and oxidative stress.

-Reduces lipid accumulation in the liver , improving liver fibrosis

-Stimulates insulin secretion

-Delays stomach emptying

-Slows intestinal motility

-Significant appetite reduction

- Reduces the risk of future cardiovascular events; in people who have type 2 diabetes with existing cardiovascular disease.

It is effective in long-term weight loss and changes your relationship with food by inhibiting your cravings for sweet and fatty foods.

This medication is self-injected weekly, and can by done in the comfort of your own home with monthly check-ins.

Is The Medication Safe?

GLP-1s are FDA-approved, clinically-tested, stimulant-free and non-habit forming. Not only are they safe but research shows that they are the most effective medications for sustainable weight loss especially when combined with lifestyle changes. GLP-1s are generally very well tolerated with limited side effects. Many individuals don’t have any side effects at all; however for those who do nausea is the most common and this typically resolves over the first few weeks. In the most recent clinical trials at the highest dose less than 5% of people discontinued GLP-1 medications because of side effects.

Tirzepatide has a boxed warning (the strictest warning) from the FDA about a risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. This is because animal studies found that rodents developed thyroid tumors when exposed to GLP-1 agonists. However human studies have yet to confirm this risk.

You shouldn’t take tirzepatide if you or your family have a history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice signs or symptoms of thyroid cancer. These include a lump in your neck or jaw pain.
