The basics
Plasmage® is a non-invasive medical device that uses patented Fractional Plasma. It delivers plasma energy to the tissues, which is generated by the ionization of gas in the air. Plasmage® can improve droopy and saggy eyelids and tighten the skin around them with minimal discomfort and downtime.
Plasmage® is the only medical device or treatment that can perform Blefaroplasma® or eyelid tightening. You may also be glad to know that the device only treats the area of concern, so there is no need to worry about damage or inflammation in the surrounding tissues or skin’s deeper layers.
The procedure
PLASMAGE® uses a pen-like medical device to deliver plasma energy to the tissues. It heats the skin almost immediately, creating tiny dots of trauma on the upper or lower eyelid skin. The energy discharge begins when the tip of the device is close to the skin (1 to 2 mm away), but it doesn’t directly touch it.
The treatment removes excess skin through sublimation, evaporating or dissolving the skin’s top layer without cuts or any penetration. The heating encourages collagen production and triggers contraction and tightening of the skin fibers. This results in a lifting and rejuvenating effect on the skin around the eyes.
After the treatment
You can expect some redness or swelling in the treated area. This can last for about 2 to 3 days depending on the patient. Crusting of the skin is also normal and will fall off within 5 to 7 days. Also, you can expect the new skin to look pink for up to 4 weeks, but this can be covered with makeup.
After the procedure, be sure to keep the area dry and clean. You also need to avoid sun exposure, especially while the crusts are healing. Also, you’ll have to avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure for 7 to 8 weeks. It is also advisable to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen and protective sunglasses following the procedure.
The results
With PLASMAGE® as an alternative to eyelid surgery, you can see the results immediately. Do take note, however, that the redness and swelling following the procedure may conceal them. The treated area will also form a crust and will fall off on its own over 5 to 7 days.
About 8 weeks following the treatment, you can see more improvements and full renewal of the skin. Optimum results can be seen 5 to 6 months after the treatment. The results can last for about 1 to 2 years and you can repeat the treatment in the future if needed.
One treatment is usually enough to treat the lower and the upper eyelids, but more sessions may be recommended depending on your needs and goals.
